Whether you’re selling a Blink security camera, giving it to a friend, or want to give a tenant access, there are ways to transfer a Blink Camera to a new owner.
How to Transfer a Blink Camera to a New Owner
Before a new owner can add a Blink camera to their profile, the original owner needs to take a few steps to remove their account information and ensure the new owner can set it up.
Here’s how you can delete a single Blink Camera from a larger Blink System:
- Open the Blink app.
- Find the thumbnail for the camera you want to delete, then tap the Device Settings icon.
- Select “General Settings.”
- Select “Delete Device” and confirm.
Once you delete the camera, remove the batteries or unplug it from the wall. Now, the new owner will be able to set it up on their Blink account.
How to Transfer a Sync Module to a New Owner
Deleting the Sync Module connected to your Blink System is similar to deleting a camera, but you must have the Sync Module on hand to do so.
- Open the Blink app.
- Tap the Sync Module icon on the home screen.
- Select “Delete Sync Module” at the bottom of the next screen.
- Scan the QR code on the back of the Sync Module using your phone’s camera.
- Confirm that you’d like to delete your Sync Module.
How to Transfer a Blink System to a New Owner
If you’re getting rid of all the Blink devices in your system, following the process above for each device might get tedious. Instead, try deleting your entire Blink System at once.
- Open the Blink app.
- Tap the gear icon to open your Settings.
- Select “Device and System Settings.”
- Select the name of the system you wish to delete.
- Tap on Delete System and confirm that this is the system you wish to delete.
The app will then bring you back to the Settings screen. The system you deleted will no longer be available, and you’ll be free to sell or gift every camera in the system to another person.
How to Transfer a Blink Account to Another Person
If you’re a homeowner who’s decided to rent your house out, it is possible to give your tenant access to your Blink System by transferring your Blink account to their email address.
- Open the Blink app.
- Tap the Settings icon at the bottom of the home screen.
- Select “Account and Privacy.”
- After tapping the Account icon, you’ll see your current email address at the top of the screen. Tap this and enter your password.
- Enter the new email address.
- The new user will receive a verification code in their email. Enter this code and tap “Verify.”
After verifying the new email address, you’ll be logged out of your Blink account on all devices and brought back to the Welcome screen. The new user can then login with their email address.
Note: The updated email address must not be associated with any existing Blink accounts.

How Do I Reset My Blink Camera for a New Owner?
You don’t have to reset your Blink Camera before transferring it to a new owner, but some people feel more comfortable giving devices to another person once they’re positive there’s no personal information on it.
Some Blink Cameras have a dedicated pinhole reset button on the back or bottom. Use something like a paperclip to press and hold the reset button for about 30 seconds.
If your camera is connected to a Sync Module, press and hold the button on the side of the Sync Module until the light turns red. This will reset your entire Blink System.
How to Delete a Blink Account
If you’re deleting your entire Blink System, there’s really no reason to keep your Blink account. While you can delete your account entirely, the action cannot be undone and all your information will be deleted.

In addition, you won’t be able to sign up for a new Blink account with that same email address.
- Open the Blink app.
- Tap “Settings” at the bottom of the screen.
- Select “Account and Privacy.”
- Tap “Delete Account.”
- Confirm that you want to delete your account on the confirmation screen.
Can You Unregister a Blink Camera from Another Account?
If you bought a Blink Camera secondhand and it’s already registered to another account, you cannot unregister it or connect it to your Blink account.
The only way to unregister a Blink Camera from another account is to contact the original owner and ask them to remove the device.
If you cannot contact the seller, you, unfortunately, will not be able to set the camera up.
Can You Unregister a Blink Camera without an Account?
The only way to unregister a Blink Camera is to log into your Blink account and remove it. If you do not have access to your account, you cannot unregister it.
What Does “Serial Already Registered” Mean on Blink App?
If you try to set up your Blink Camera and get a message saying “Serial Already Registered,” it means someone else has already registered the camera on their account.
If you bought the camera new, your best course of action is to contact Blink Support. If you bought it secondhand, contact the seller and ask them to remove the camera from their account.
Can You Unregister a Blink Camera if It Was Stolen?
Apart from Sync Modules, you don’t need to physically have the Blink device you’re unregistering from your account. You can unregister a stolen Blink Camera, but it shouldn’t be your first course of action.
If your Blink Camera was stolen, the first thing you should do is obtain a police report and contact Blink Support. They can blacklist the stolen camera so it can’t be used, and they may be able to replace your camera.
