Can’t be any worse
Regarding the article Transportation report endorsed for northwest (May 24).
I had a dentist appointment on May 23 at 8 a.m. My dentist is on Wonderland Road just south of Oxford Street near Thornwood Drive. I left there at about 9:15 a.m. With the flow of traffic, I had a hard time turning right onto Wonderland because northbound traffic on Wonderland was lined up from Oxford to Thornwood Drive.

The Oxford and Wonderland intersection is a disaster all the time. Adding or subtracting another 1,000 total trips a day will make no difference.
Even if you built all these new apartment buildings with no parking and no new cars added, traffic still won’t flow. It really makes no difference, so I say, build away.
I may need to change dentists.
Dave Worby, London
Cartoons tiresome
I wonder if there are other readers as frustrated as I am over the editorial cartoon selection on the opinion page. The cartoons almost always are poking fun at or criticizing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, while ignoring the missteps of Premier Doug Ford’s government.
While Trudeau’s policies might not be appreciated by all Canadians, here in Ontario, our lives are much more negatively affected by the Ford government.
Health care, education and housing are provincial jurisdiction.
When our local paper constantly ignores the mismanagement of the Ford government and instead lays every issue at the feet of our prime minister, it is contributing to a false narrative and helping the federal and provincial conservative parties.

Change inevitable
Regarding the article Proposal to extend gas-powered tool curfew draws backlash (May 25).
I’m in support of Coun. Skylar Franke’s now-withdrawn motion related to tightening sound bylaws around lawn maintenance noise pollution.
Bigger fish to fry? Of course, but this council could walk and chew gum at the same time.
Impact on your freedom? Your freedom to crank the tunes, install your rumbling muffler, fill the air with noxious odours and pollutants, dump garbage, park on your lawn, those freedoms end when they impact the health, livelihood and freedom of your neighbours and fellow citizens.
This change is inevitable. A combination of restrictions and incentives can speed it along.
Andrew McClenaghan, London
Try new tactic
Councillor Skylar Franke wanted to restrict gas-powered lawn maintenance tools to bankers’ hours, in an effort to push people to purchase electric equivalents.
She’d really only be punishing the people who work weekdays from breakfast to dinner, because they would have needed to devote some of their weekend to maintaining their property.
Next time, try encouraging people, not punishing them.
Brian Aziz, London
