Aficionados Trufflez Description

Trufflez is a boutique cannabis strain bred in Mendocino County, California. While seeds of this strain are currently out of stock, Trufflez is relatively popular at dispensaries where it's often picked up by lovers of balanced indica-dominant hybrids. Keep reading to learn about the Trufflez cannabis strain, its origins, genetics, effects, and more.

History of the Trufflez Cannabis Strain

While sometimes confused with the cannabis lifestyle brand of the same name, the Trufflez strain is most commonly attributed to Aficionado Seeds, a boutique cannabis genetics company based in Mendocino County, the biggest cannabis-producing region in California's Emerald Triangle. Founded by Leo Stone, Aficionado Seeds markets itself as a luxury seed company with over 20 years of experience breeding and growing cannabis. Leo Stone and the Aficionado Seeds brand have also won multiple cannabis competitions, including 15 Emerald Cup awards.

Genetic Lineage of Trufflez

Trufflez by Aficionado Seeds is a hybrid cannabis strain bred from a Zkittlez x Cherry Noir cross and White Cherry Trufflez.

Zkittlez x Cherry Noir is a hybrid strain bred by Aficionado Seeds combining Zkittlez, a beloved Californian hybrid, with Cherry Noir—the result of crossing a special cut of Chemdawg with Cherry Lime. Unfortunately, there is very little information available about this cross and its traits.

White Cherry Trufflez, on the other hand, is one of Aficionado's flagship strains. Bred from 2012 Chemdawg Special Reserve x Cherry Lime #4 and Afghani, White Cherry Trufflez produces an uplifting and energizing buzz that's perfect for creative moments or social situations. As its name suggests, White Cherry Trufflez boasts a delicious aroma that combines upfront cherry sweetness with delicate undertones of white chocolate. Some users also pick up on lingering notes of diesel.

Note that there are other versions of Trufflez out there. One popular variation, for example, was bred by Wyeast and derives from a cross of Runtz and Jet Fuel Gelato.

Physical Characteristics of Trufflez

Trufflez is a hybrid strain with a seemingly even split of sativa and indica traits, though this can vary from one phenotype to another. In general, these plants grow to moderate heights, with medium internodal spacing and luscious green foliage. Once mature, Trufflez plants grow heavy with chunky nugs featuring an extremely tight structure, a beautiful mix of bright green, pink, and purple colors, long orange pistils, and a thick coating of trichomes that covers both the inside and outside of every bud.

Properties and Effects of Trufflez

Trufflez is a potent strain, containing 20–25% THC and only trace amounts of secondary cannabinoids. Besides its high THC content, Trufflez is also rich in a variety of terpenes. Reports from dispensaries and users show that Trufflez is typically rich in caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene, but it may also contain linalool, carene, and pinene. Combined, these compounds give Trufflez its super sweet aroma. According to Aficionado Seeds, fresh Trufflez buds have a sweet nose reminiscent of cherry candies and strawberry gummies, with crisp orange highlights and soothing floral undertones. Smell these buds, close your eyes, and below all the upfront sweetness you should pick up on notes of lavender, rose, and jasmine.

Users also compare Trufflez' rich aroma to that of caramel, toffee, and butter. Its flavor, on the other hand, combines notes of butter, salted caramel, cheese, and gas, with more delicate berry and grape undertones.

Light her up, and Trufflez delivers a well-balanced high. Expect to feel an initial euphoria that elevates your mood, eliminates tension, and possibly promotes focus. You may also feel more social after smoking Trufflez, making it a great choice for gatherings and chill sessions with close friends. Users with a decent tolerance should be able to enjoy moderate doses of this strain without feeling cognitively or socially impaired. Note, however, that Trufflez' effects do become more physical with time, culminating in a soothing body buzz that often leaves users feeling lazy, tingly, and eventually sleepy.

Uses of Trufflez

Trufflez is a popular strain enjoyed by a variety of cannabis users. In general, we recommend enjoying Trufflez in the afternoons, evenings, or on weekends when you can take full advantage of its initial lift before getting comfy and leaning back into its relaxing stone.

According to user reports, this strain pairs well with:

• Household chores

• Afternoons working from home

• Creative activities

• Chill social gatherings

• Relaxing at home

• Staycations

• Light outdoor activities

Note that, like all high-potency cannabis strains, Trufflez can cause unwanted side effects in some people, including:

• Headaches

• Dry mouth and dry eyes

• Sedation

• Anxiety/paranoia

Cultivation and Production of Trufflez

Aficionado Seeds only launched a limited number of Trufflez seeds, which have long sold out. While we don’t have access to data regarding the exact yields and growth traits of this specimen, according to the breeder, original Trufflez plants reach moderate heights and grow nice and bushy. They are also relatively fast-flowering and produce decent harvests.

Trufflez — A Boutique Strain From Mendocino County

Trufflez descends from Zkittlez, Cherry Noir, and White Cherry Trufflez. Produced in very limited supply by Aficionado Seeds, it seems that few home growers have been able to cultivate this strain. Nonetheless, Trufflez is relatively popular at dispensaries, thanks to its complex aromas of sweet candy and flowers and well-balanced effects that elevate the mind before giving way to a soothing body buzz—perfect for lovers of indica-dominant hybrids.
