Q:

Hello everyone,

I have been considering getting a Doberman as a pet for quite some time now. However, I have been doing my research and have noticed that a lot of Dobermans have their ears cropped or bobbed. While I understand the reasons for this practice, I am personally not a fan of the look.

I was wondering if anyone has any pictures or examples of what a Doberman looks like without bobbed ears? I would love to see what the natural ear shape and size is, as well as if there are any potential health or behavioral differences between a Doberman with natural ears versus one with bobbed ears.

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

Hello,

I have personally owned a Doberman with natural ears for the past few years and I absolutely adore their floppy ears! Without the cropped look, the ears are much longer and less erect, but still very expressive and playful. In terms of health or behavioral differences, I haven't noticed any significant changes between my Doberman and others with cropped ears.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that natural ears do require a bit more maintenance in terms of cleaning to prevent ear infections. Make sure to regularly check your Doberman's ears and clean them with a gentle solution recommended by your vet.

Overall, I highly recommend considering a Doberman with natural ears as they have a unique and lovable look!

Greetings everyone,

I have been lucky enough to own several Doberman Pinschers with natural ears in the past and I must say, they are stunning creatures! I feel that their natural ears give them a more gentle and approachable look, but also make them stand out in a crowd. In fact, I often receive compliments on how cute and unique they look!

In regards to differences in health or behavior, I haven't noticed anything substantial between Dobermans with natural ears or cropped ears. However, like any dog breed they require lots of love, attention and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle no matter what their ear shape looks like.

Anyway, whether you want to adopt a Doberman with natural or cropped ears is ultimately a personal preference. But I would highly recommend having a closer look at natural ears as they are beautiful and have a certain charm that should be appreciated.

Hi there,

I have been a proud owner of a Doberman with natural ears for several years now, and I have to say, I love her look! Her natural ears give her a softer, more approachable appearance, which is important to me since she often interacts with other dogs and people.

In terms of differences in health or behavior, I have not noticed any drastic changes between dogs with natural and cropped ears. However, one thing to keep in mind is that natural ears can be more prone to injuries during play or growth, due to their size and weight. Therefore, it's important to maintain good ear hygiene and check for any signs of discomfort or injury in your dog's natural ears.

Overall, I've had a positive experience with a natural-eared Doberman and would highly recommend considering this look for anyone looking to adopt a playful and loving companion.

Hey there,

My previous Doberman had her ears cropped and she looked very regal and intimidating, which was my primary motivation for doing so. However, after doing some more research on the ethics of ear cropping, I decided to adopt a Doberman with natural ears. I was pleasantly surprised at how cute she looked with her long floppy ears!

One difference I noticed is that she seems to hear better with natural ears, as the sound seems to funnel in more effectively with the longer ear shape. On the other hand, she does not seem to have the same kind of intimidating presence as my previous Doberman with cropped ears.

In the end, I personally preferred the look and ethics of a Doberman with natural ears and didn't notice any negative differences in health or behavior. It's certainly a personal choice, but I would recommend giving natural ears a try!
